Growth meets curiosity: it’s a formula for success that’s led to countless impactful careers. For Bailey DeLellis, that combination, along with a strong connection to her community, has defined her time at WSFS Bank.
DeLellis began her WSFS career as an intern in 2019, while studying finance and economics at King’s College. Over two years, she completed multiple internships across departments, including the Real Estate Services and Business Banking teams, before joining WSFS fulltime in May 2021.
Her early days as an intern were centered around learning, as she was tasked with putting together a standard operating procedures manual. But she says her ability to meet with different teams, understand the importance of collaboration and communication, and see how internal efficiencies drive Client experiences set up the groundwork for the rest of her career.
“I spent a lot of time observing other roles, which helped me get a better understanding of what I would want to do post-graduation,” said DeLellis of her first few months. “The manual is still in place today and has been adopted across a few other lines of business.”
As a local to the Philadelphia region, DeLellis chose WSFS because of its presence in the community where she grew up, but it wasn’t until her internships with the company that she knew she found the place she wanted to start her career.
“I had no idea what went into ‘banking’ but quickly learned the different roles and opportunities available,” said DeLellis. “There are many reasons I chose to stay with WSFS, but the main one is the culture of inclusivity.”
She has seen the WSFS culture, centered around service, in action through opportunities for personal and professional growth. Now serving as Assistant Vice President, Small Business Product Manager, DeLellis continues to thrive in a role where she has been a part of major change and initiatives within the team.
“The one thing that has not changed in my day-to-day since I was an intern is learning. Every day is very different for me, so each one is filled with new opportunities that can help drive change and enhance our Clients’ experience,” said DeLellis. “As much as I would love to have a one-, five-, or even ten-year plan, ultimately, I just want to show up as my best self every day and be better than the person I was yesterday.”
“Bailey’s story is an inspiring example of how continuous learning and collaboration can open doors to leadership,” said Herb Broadwater, AVP, Recruiting Program Lead. “Her journey from intern to AVP shows how WSFS’s culture of support and development helps Associates grow into roles that make a real impact—for our Clients and our communities.”
DeLellis started as one of WSFS’ summer interns, positioned in departments across the company. If you are interested in taking the next step to join WSFS as an intern or in a full-time role, you can learn more by going to wsfsbank.com/careers.
