WSFS Bank’s Johnny Guzman Builds a Career Rooted in Relational Banking

Relational banking is at the core of the face-to-face experience for Clients who come into a WSFS banking office, and for the Associates who are on the other side of the desk it’s a driving force to kickstart a career. When Johnny Guzman began as a personal banker in 2015, his goal was clear: join a company where he could make a difference in the community, grow professionally, and build long-term relationships.
“WSFS stood out as a place where people aren’t just numbers,” said Guzman.
Starting as a Personal Banker I, Guzman learned the foundations of service and teamwork by opening accounts, resolving issues, and helping Clients find solutions aligned to their goals. More than that, he provided education and guidance to help each Client feel confident about their finances. That hands-on experience set the tone for a career built on trust, high standards, and continuous growth.
Over the next decade, Guzman quickly advanced as a Personal Banker II and III, serving as a mentor and team lead, and moved into management as Assistant Branch Manager, and now, Retail Office Manager. With each step, his perspective broadened from individual Client interactions to banking office leadership and impact across the retail banking network. Now, his day-to-day blends strategy and service.

“My responsibilities have grown significantly,” said Guzman, who also holds an officer title as Assistant Vice President. “I now take part in higher-level decision-making, talent development, coaching, and operational oversight that impact the broader network. Each day brings new opportunities to support my team and strengthen our impact within the Communities we serve.”
Guzman credits WSFS with cultivating his talents for growth through leadership development, training opportunities, and strong mentorship.
“I’ve always felt supported to take on challenges, step into stretch assignments, and build the skillset needed for leadership roles,” said Guzman.
At WSFS, talent investment is a part of the culture, grounded in our values of Service, Truth, and Respect. Associates are encouraged to learn, try new things, and lead.
“We invest in potential and create pathways for growth,” said Patrick Best, SVP, Director of Talent Management. “Our Associates build skills and confidence that translate into meaningful careers. Johnny’s journey embodies how the WSFS experience helps people do their best work for Clients and Communities.”

As Retail Office Manager, Guzman seeks to empower and support others the same way he felt early in his career. His end goal is to help Associates reach their full potential, small businesses feel set up for long-term success, and Clients feel in control of their finances.
“Johnny is the kind of leader who brings our values to life,” said Tracy Feinsilver, SVP, Regional Manager for the Northern Delaware Division. “His banking office feels his influence every day through the way Associates support one another, the consistency of our operations, and in the trusted relationships we build with our Clients.”
Through new opportunities, Guzman serves as the Wilmington lead, for a group that’s focused on increasing collaboration to create a stronger Client experience. In turn, he’s able to fulfil his initial goal: connecting more deeply with the communities he serves.
“WSFS is a supportive environment where people get to grow, try new things, and feel part of a team that truly cares about the communities we serve,” he says. “At WSFS, we value your ideas, encourage you to be yourself, and give you room to advance.”
