The Wardrobe and WSFS tackle clothing insecurity on Fox 29

In the past 30 years, The Wardrobe, formerly The Working Wardrobe, has evolved in every way, but their mission to help the community has remained constant. With six locations across the Philadelphia region, The Wardrobe is dedicated to eliminating clothing insecurity, empowering people for success, and curbing fashion waste.
The Wardrobe believes clothing should not be a barrier to success – whether it’s not having anything to wear or not having the right thing. Not only can customers expect to walk away with a great outfit, but they also walk away with free support and receiving the STAR – Styling, Time, Advice, Respect – treatment. Everyone also has access to the Wings for Success education program which offers one-on-one coaching and workshops to help them achieve their professional or personal goals.
The Wardrobe, whose original mission was to help low-income women transition into the workplace, now also works to reduce the waste created from fashion. Each year they “upcycle” 200,000+ pounds of new or gently used clothes. Every article of clothing is repurposed for free guest services, resale inventory, or recycled with their partner Helpsy.
WSFS Bank is proud to support small business like The Wardrobe and invest in the region’s future. As part of Small Business Month in May, Fox 29’s Bob Kelly spoke with The Wardrobe’s Executive Director Sheri Cole and WSFS’ Chief Business Banking Officer, Candice Caruso, about that relationship.
