Ryan, a 13-year-old from Delaware will travel on his dream trip to Key West, Florida, thanks to Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley and WSFS Bank. During the June 17, 2025, celebration, WSFS and Make-A-Wish surprised Ryan with a backpack filled with everything needed for a sunny sendoff.
Ryan lives with a genetic disorder and receives care at Nemours Children’s Hospital. His family says you can find him daydreaming about exotic race cars, creating art, bowling, or playing Minecraft. He enjoys exploring new beaches, relaxing in the sun, playing in the water and spending quality time with his loved ones – all of which will be in his future during his upcoming trip to Key West. His mom says he saw pictures of the beach and knew that’s where he wanted to go.
Ryan said he was “nervous” to receive his wish, but he’s looking forward to time at the beach – and his first plane ride.
Ryan’s wish was made possible through the support of WSFS Associates who donated to Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley and attended his beach-themed Special Wish Celebration at the WSFS Bank Center office in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
“Congratulations, Ryan. Your resiliency has been admirable and does not go unseen. We encourage celebration and excitement as your wish unfolds – it will be a marvelous thing to behold. So sit back, relax, and wear a big grin, and wait for your wonderful wish to begin,” said Justin Dunn, senior vice president, chief community impact officer for WSFS Bank.
WSFS Bank is deeply committed to strengthening the communities where we live, work, play, and do business. As part of this, our vision is, “a day where everyone will thrive.”
“When a child receives a wish, stress turns into optimism. When a child receives a wish, fear becomes fight. When a child receives a wish, darkness becomes light. When a child receives a wish, they get to be a kid again,” said Laura Klatzkin, development director for Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley.
