From Intern to Operations: Exposure to New Experiences at WSFS

From her first day as an intern to becoming a full-time Disputes Specialist, Sierra Graham has fully embraced the learning and growth opportunities at WSFS. Placed by Year Up United, a national workforce development program that provides young adults with hands-on training, mentorship, and corporate internships to bridge the opportunity gap and launch successful professional careers. Graham joined the BankCard Services team where she spent her internship developing the skills needed to properly process and investigate dispute cases while building strong relationships with her fellow Associates.

“My internship set me up for a full-time position by giving me time to learn the skills needed to understand the full scope of the position. It helped me acclimate with my colleagues,” said Graham.

Now working full-time in the Operations Center, Graham investigates and processes claims, makes Client calls, and contributes to projects. She credits her decision to stay with WSFS to the supportive environment fostered by her manager and team leads, as well as the inclusive company culture.

“From the first day of my internship until now, my manager, Marshina Robinson and team leads, Stefani Kelly and Shalom Dejesus, have taken time out of their days to pour so much knowledge into me. My fellow Associates have also taken time out of the day to help me when needed,” said Graham. “On top of enjoying what I do with processing dispute claims, I really enjoy the work environment and connect well with WSFS’s company culture.”

Now, in a full-circle moment, Graham is looking forward to training the newest Year Up United intern by creating a training review presentation/program for new hires. She says it gives her a chance to give back and shape the experience for others joining the team.

“Sierra’s journey is a great example of how impactful internship programs like Year Up United can be in shaping a career,” said Herb Broadwater, Recruiting Program Lead. “Her experience shows how hands-on learning helps young professionals build confidence, develop skills, and discover what they’re passionate about. At WSFS, we’re proud to partner with programs like Year Up that help us connect with great talent and provide opportunities for them to grow and thrive within our culture.”
