<Back to WSFS Debit Card

Does WSFS support Apple Pay®? Yes. WSFS Customers can now add WSFS consumer and business debit and credit cards to Apple Pay®.

How do I add my WSFS card to Apple Pay®? WSFS Customers using Apple Pay® on an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or later and iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3 or later will use the Wallet app to add and manage their debit and credit cards. WSFS Customers using Apple Pay® on the Apple Watch paired with iPhone 5 or later must use the Apple Watch app to add and manage their cards. A maximum of 8 credit or debit cards can be added to Apple Pay® on each eligible device.

To add your first card to Apple Pay®, you will open the Wallet app and select the “Add Credit or Debit Card” option. If you already have a WSFS debit or credit card on file with iTunes, you can add it to Apple Pay® as your first card simply by entering the security code on the back of your card when prompted. To add a new or second WSFS card to Apple Pay®, use the device camera to capture your card information or type it in manually. Once verified with WSFS, your card will be ready to use with Apple Pay®.

Please note that if you wish to use the same WSFS card on both your Apple Watch and iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you must add the card twice – once to the Wallet app using the first method listed above for the phone, and once to the Apple Watch app as described here for the Apple Watch. Cards added in one Apple Pay® management app are not automatically transferred between paired devices.

A subtle vibration and beep will let you know your purchase was successful.

Your experience with Apple Pay® may vary by merchant. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, provide the merchant with the last four digits of the device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the ⓘ icon while viewing your card in the Wallet app. You may also be asked to provide a signature or debit card PIN to complete your transaction. You can also use Apple Pay® on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus to make purchases within participating mobile apps. When using Apple Pay® on the Apple Watch, you will be prompted to unlock the device for payments by entering your four digit PIN. Once the watch is placed on your wrist and the PIN is entered, your Apple Watch will remain unlocked for Apple Pay® until it is removed from your wrist. You can also enter your four-digit PIN from your paired iPhone 5 or later to unlock your Apple Watch via Bluetooth connection once it has been placed on your wrist. The Apple Watch will automatically lock the Apple Pay® feature once it is removed from your wrist, and cannot be used with Apple Pay® again until it is placed back on your wrist and unlocked using the four digit PIN.

To make a purchase using the Apple Watch, unlock the Apple Pay® feature by entering your four digit PIN and double tap the small button on the side of the watch twice to display your default credit or debit card. To pay with a card other than your default card, simply swipe up and down to select the desired payment method. To make a payment, hold the watch a few centimeters away from the contactless payment terminal with the display facing towards the reader. A gentle vibration and beep will let you know your purchase was successful.

Your experience with Apple Pay® may vary by merchant. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, instead provide the last four digits of the device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the ⓘ icon while viewing your card in the Apple Watch app. You may also be asked to provide a signature or debit card PIN to complete your transaction.

How is my information protected when using Apple Pay®? When you enroll your card in Apple Pay®, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted, and stored on a dedicated chip on your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 or Apple Watch. When you make a purchase, the device account number along with a dynamic, transaction-specific security code is used to process your payment. This means that your actual credit or debit card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with the payment.

Where can I use Apple Pay®? Visit the Apple Pay® site for a list of participating merchants and mobile apps.

What if I need to return an item? The return process varies by merchant. You may need to present a receipt from the merchant to return the item. To complete the return, hold your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch over the contactless payment terminal and wait for the slight vibration of the device to confirm the refund has been processed. You must use the same Apple Pay® enabled device you used to purchase the item to process the return.

Can I make purchases with Apple Pay® using my iPad? Yes, Apple Pay® is available on the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 or later, and can be used to make purchases within participating mobile apps. The iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 or later cannot be used to make in-store purchases at this time.

Can I use a card other than my default card to make a purchase? When you hold your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus over a contactless payment terminal to make a purchase, your default card will be displayed at the top of the screen and your other cards will appear stacked at the bottom. Do I need to verify my card with WSFS when I add it to Apple Pay®?
For security purposes, we may ask you to call WSFS to verify your card when adding it to Apple Pay®. This is done to confirm your identity and protect your personal information.

Why is Apple Pay® not working with my Apple Watch? For security purposes, your Apple Watch will not be eligible for Apple Pay® if you disable wrist detection, disable your device passcode, log out of iCloud or un-pair your Apple Watch from your iPhone 5 or later. If you set up Apple Pay® on your Apple Watch and then disable any of these features, the cards you enrolled in Apple Pay® will be deleted and you will need to add them again. For Customers using an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus with their Apple Watch, disabling these features will only remove the cards enrolled in Apple Pay® through the Apple Watch app, and not the Wallet app. Cards enrolled in Apple Pay® on your iPhone through Wallet will still be active. Please see the Apple Watch site for more Apple Watch & Apple Pay® troubleshooting.

What should I do when I receive a replacement card? For any cards replaced due to expiration, loss, theft or fraud, you will need to add the card to Apple Pay® as if it were new – either using the device camera or by manually adding the card information.

What happens if I replace, update, or lose my Apple Pay® device? If you replace or update your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, Apple Watch or iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, or iPhone 5c paired with your Apple Watch, your WSFS card(s) will not be transferred automatically. You will need to set up Apple Pay® again and add your cards on the new device.

If your Apple Pay® device is ever lost or stolen, you can use iCloud>Settings to easily remove your cards from Apple Pay®. You can continue to make purchases using your physical card even when the device account number is removed from Apple Pay®.

Will Apple Pay® be available on my Android Phone? WSFS intends to allow cardholders to use similar services with other mobile devices, including Android Phones. Stay tuned for more information.

How can I change my default card in Apple Pay®? The first credit or debit card you add to Wallet or the Apple Watch app will automatically become your default card. This is the card that will appear on your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch when you use Apple Pay® at a contactless payment reader when checking out. To change your default card, simply open settings and select the Wallet & Apple Pay® tab for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users, or the Apple Watch app tab for Apple Watch users.

Why does my card image in Wallet look different from my physical card? Your card image in Wallet and the Apple Watch app is a digital representation of your physical WSFS debit or credit card. The image you see in Wallet and the Apple Watch app may not be an exact copy of your WSFS card.

Can I add my WSFS debit or credit cards to Apple Pay® on multiple devices? Yes, you can add multiple WSFS debit and credit cards to Apple Pay® on multiple compatible devices.

How do I remove a card from Apple Pay®?
