Talent, growth, impact and central are to the Associate experience at WSFS Bank. For Jireh “Jay” Curet Alvarez, that growth began when she joined WSFS in 2019 amid a move to Delaware. “It felt almost like a new start of life for me,” she says of her time beginning as a Personal Banker I. Now as a Personal Banker III, her journey reflects what can happen when curiosity meets opportunity, and when a culture of learning and inclusion helps talent rise.

""Alvarez’s WSFS career began with training designed to set her up for success for years to come. As part of the months-long learning in and out of a classroom, she worked at several branches, learned new technologies, and networked with Associates across the bank, including her training group — a team she still stays in touch with.

“We continue to support and check in on one another, which speaks to how meaningful that experience was,” said Alvarez of her initial training group.

As her confidence and capabilities expanded, so did her role. Beyond learning the basics, her day-to-day is now built around relationships and results as she helps Clients manage their finances and reach their financial goals. She offers support across nearly every stage of a Clients’ life — opening an account, discussing savings opportunities, supporting the mortgage process, and considering opening a business — each phase offers personalized guidance based on the individual Client.

“Jay embodies our values of service, truth, and respect,” said Johnny Guzman, AVP, Retail Officer Manager. “Over the years, she’s grown into a trusted advisor for Clients and a go-to mentor for Associates.”

Beyond her day-to-day, she is an active contributor to internal WSFS initiatives, including the Knights of Engagement, an Associate-focused engagement program, and Resource Group HOLA, Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement.

In the community, as part of Team WSFS, she supports financial education efforts and volunteers at community events and non-profit organizations. She also serves as an ambassador for the Bank at School, a program which teaches young people how to save and responsibly manage money.

Together, she says these experiences have made her more engaged and confident.

“WSFS has supported my career growth by exposing me to high-caliber professionals and cross-institutional environments that have enhanced my learning, confidence, and professional development,” said Alvarez. “The bank values integrity, collaboration, and continuous learning, and it offers an environment where people are supported to grow their skills and build meaningful careers.”

“At WSFS, we invest in potential and create pathways for growth,” said Patrick Best, SVP, Director of Talent Management. “Our structured training and mentorship help Associates discover what they do best and advance with confidence. Jay’s progression is a powerful example of how a job in Personal Banking can lead to a career path with lasting impact—for our Clients, our communities, and our Associates.”

For those considering a role at WSFS, Jay’s advice is clear and heartfelt, “Come as you are—curious, driven, and committed to doing work that matters. If you’re motivated by impact, teamwork, and high standards, this is a place where your contributions will be recognized and your development taken seriously.”
