Walk into any of WSFS’ branches and you will see dozens of Associates ready to serve your banking needs. Behind the scenes are dozens more working to keep your information and money protected. Max Kaplan has had the opportunity to learn both sides of the business over several internship experiences, and it’s those learning opportunities that have kept him coming back for three years.
“WSFS has a special place in my heart,” said Kaplan who will graduate with his degree in Risk Management and Insurance later this year. “The company’s friendly Associates create an environment where you are encouraged to ask questions and expand your horizons. Working as a branch intern was a great experience, so when I had the opportunity to return with a with a narrowed focus on WSFS’ Business Continuity team, I knew I had to come back.”
In his current role as a Continuity of Operations Intern, the Temple University student works on incident and response management for the company, specifically focused on analysis reports, workplace safety and continuity plans. It’s a role Kaplan says allows him to interact with others across the organization and is never the same on a day-to-day basis.
“I have developed a strong understanding of what continuity is in a business setting, as well as how to manage and respond to incidents accordingly. I have also been able to further my professional development, by meeting with other Associates and interns regularly.” said Kaplan, a Fox School of Business student. “Together, these experiences give me an excellent steppingstone for my professional career.”
As he prepares to begin his full-time career in a few months, Kaplan wants to stay in the risk-related industry, and it’s his new-found experience in managing, preparing and responding to risks that he says will allow him to do that.
“WSFS is a great place to intern. The organization supports your goals and growth,” said Kaplan. “Just the other day I ran into Rodger Levenson, the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of WSFS Financial Corporation. He took the time to say hello and chat with me. I don’t know many other places where at such a young age I could access executives and senior leadership. It is a great place for young individuals looking to step up to the next level.”
Kaplan is one of WSFS’ many interns this summer positioned in departments across the company. If you are interested in taking the next step to joining WSFS, learn more by visiting wsfsbank.com/careers.
