Nate Hemman Finds His Passion for Client Work During His WSFS Internship

For private banking intern Nate Hemman, WSFS’ community approach made a strong first impression. With a background in service at Villanova University, he was excited to join an organization that reflects many of the same values.
“I was attracted to WSFS’ focus on helping others,” Hemman explains. “You can tell it’s not just about generating returns—it’s about building real relationships and making a positive impact.”
Impactful community efforts start with a strong internal team, and Hemman said the way his manager Andrea Kelly and other associates prioritize building relationships with him has been one of the most valuable parts of his summer.
“It feels like WSFS sees the intern cohort as equals, as people who can offer useful ideas,” he explained. “It makes for a comfortable environment to ask questions and learn.”
As someone craving a client-facing career, the internship has challenged Nate to grow professionally. He has actively contributed to projects ranging from assisting with credit analysis and loan proposals to collaborating on a capstone project focused on how artificial intelligence can support internal processes.
“Being able to simultaneously contribute while learning is something I feel grateful for.”

Through this work, Hemman gained valuable exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of private banking while continuing to build the skills needed for a relationship-driven career. From observing client conversations to contributing behind the scenes, each experience has reinforced his interest in helping others make informed financial decisions.
“This exposure has helped me confirm that I’m passionate about helping others navigate financial decisions. It’s something I want to prioritize in my career,” Hemman said.
Looking ahead, the internship has not only strengthened his technical knowledge but also clarified his long-term goals. Surrounded by mentors Megan Chila and Glen Reyburn, who emphasize both performance and connection, he has come to better understand the kind of professional he hopes to become.
Hemman is one of WSFS’ many interns this summer positioned in departments across the company. If you are interested in taking the next step to joining WSFS, learn more by visiting wsfsbank.com/careers.
