As We Stand for Service Day finishes its fourth year, the contribution WSFS Associates make to the community continues to grow. The company held its annual We Stand for Service Day on Thursday, Oct. 1 where nearly 1,600 Associates volunteered across more than 170 different service projects in five states and 12 counties.

“Volunteering in our communities is so fundamental to who we are. It’s not just something we do one day; it’s something we do every day,” said Justin Dunn, SVP Chief Communication Impact Officer. “It really comes down to bringing our culture of service to life. It’s a day when our Associates step away from their normal roles and come together to serve the communities where we live and work.”

Coinciding with Founder’s Day, which celebrates WSFS founder and first president, Willard Hall, the bank closed offices for a half day to partner with the organizations throughout its footprint. Collectively, WSFS Associates volunteered roughly 5,000 hours, which translates into a value of approximately $200,000 in economic impact. Over the four years, Associates have volunteered more than 20,000 hours during We Stand for Service Day, translating to more than $740,000 in economic value.

“The concept of We Stand for Service Day was originally an idea Vernita Dorsey, SVP, Director of Community Strategy, had several years ago. What began as an idea has become an important expression of who we are as a company: Associates stepping away from their normal routines, rolling up their sleeves, and working side by side to serve our communities,” Dunn said. “With Vernita retiring at the end of the year, I can’t think of a more appropriate moment to recognize Vernita’s legacy.”

We Stand for Service Day is part of WSFS’ larger commitment to volunteerism. In 2025, WSFS Associates spent 38,000 hours volunteering through community service and financial education, and the WSFS CARES Foundation provided more than $3.4 million in grants and donations to community organizations across the bank’s footprint.

“Strong communities and a strong bank go hand in hand, and investing in the long-term success of our region is fundamental to who we are as a company,” Dunn said.
