WSFS Expands Inclusive Culture through Ishrat Jahan’s Internship

At WSFS, belonging and inclusion are tied to the core values of the company: Service, Truth and Respect. It’s an undertaking woven into the fabric of the Associate experience and one Ishrat Jahan is working to enhance during her internship this summer.

Jahan is taking her education as a human resources and management major at Temple University into WSFS’ Culture and Inclusion Team. She works hand-in-hand with the team to support the company’s various events including its seven active resource groups, BRIDGE mentorship program and preparing for the company’s Inclusion Week later in the year.

“I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience through this internship by growing an understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, strategic planning and collaborating with others,” said Jahan. “I love that the company is so community focused. They are always involved in community service and volunteer efforts which truly align with my values. Now, as a DEI Intern, I get to see firsthand how they create a safe and welcoming environment for all Associates.”

Jahan’s role stretches across the company, working with other departments and teams to enhance the Associate experience. She says her open-mindedness, excitement to learn and ability to contribute to a meaningful program have made the experience worthwhile.

As she collaborates with other interns, she’s developed her presentation skills and logistics management – a skillset she says ties directly into her future goals.

“I love working with and for people,” said Jahan. “I want to start a career — not just a job — where I can grow professionally alongside a company that values development, teamwork and shared success. Being a part of WSFS has shown me that it’s a great place to learn and thrive.”
