Each March, Women’s History Month takes place to honor and recognize the key contributions made by women to society and history.

As the official bank partner and community supporter of the Philadelphia Union and Subaru Park, WSFS joined forces with the Union on a variety of events and initiatives throughout the month to support women.

During Union home games in March, women-owned small businesses, including WSFS Customers STARS Adult Medical Day Care Center and Magic Memories Early Learning Schools, were honored at halftime as the WSFS Bank Small Business of the Match.

On March 14, Team WSFS and Union volunteers joined together to assemble care baskets that included toiletries, self-care items, cleaning supplies, inspirational notes and more, to donate to CityTeam Chester’s Women’s Shelter.

After packing the baskets at Union headquarters, volunteers personally delivered them to the Women’s Shelter nearby in Chester, Pa., which provides transitional housing and support to women and children to help them get back on their feet.

On March 23 at the Tunnel Club at Subaru Park, the Union hosted its Women in Business – Evening of Empowerment event, presented by WSFS.

The event, which was attended by more than 70 people, featured Kimberly McGlonn, Founder and CEO at Grant BLVD, and Stephanie Willis, CEO at Everybody Eats Philly, as they discussed their career paths and how they both successfully launched their own businesses.

The discussion was followed by an opportunity for attendees to network with other female leaders and allies in the Greater Philadelphia region, while enjoying appetizers, beverages and a mini-fashion show.

The various initiatives throughout the month provided opportunities to honor and celebrate the contributions of women past and present, while also supporting and empowering women across the region.

“We are so fortunate to highlight the amazing work of women entrepreneurs in the Philadelphia area, alongside a partner like WSFS Bank,” said Vice President, Partnership Marketing of the Philadelphia Union, Michelle Rosar. “The Philadelphia Union believes in and is committed to providing a platform to celebrate and highlight the leaders in our community.”
