Tech Impact Leverages Technology to Advance Social Impact with Support from WSFS

Founded in 2003, Tech Impact is a nonprofit and national leader in technology services and training with a mission to leverage tech to advance social impact. Through capacity-building services, educational resources, and workforce development programs, Tech Impact works to transform lives, organizations and the world through technology.

Tech ImpactTech Impact has worked with a variety of businesses and community organizations through the years, including partnering with WSFS for more than a decade to support Tech Impact’s mission through grants and volunteerism.

“With great community partners like WSFS Bank, Tech Impact continues to expand its offerings and the number of organizations and individuals it impacts,” said Patrick Callihan, CEO at Tech Impact. “WSFS Bank has not only provided financial support for our workforce programs for more than a decade, but their staff has also collectively donated more than 250 volunteer hours by mentoring, teaching and supporting our program participants.”

Through its workforce development arm, Tech Impact has graduated more than 1,000 students from its ITWorks and CXWorks programs, which provide technical and professional skills training, wrap around services and job placement assistance.

Tech Impact“With a 70% success rate, our graduates help narrow the persistent diversity gap in the tech sector by creating a more diverse tech talent pipeline and providing career pathways to individuals underrepresented in technology fields,” said Callihan.

“WSFS is proud to support Tech Impact in its mission to leverage technology to advance social impact,” said Vernita Dorsey, Senior Vice President, Director of Community Strategy at WSFS Bank. “At WSFS, we envision a day when everyone will thrive, and meaningful partnerships like the one between WSFS and Tech Impact bring us closer to that day. In addition to providing grants to support Tech Impact’s work, WSFS has hosted the organization’s students for a variety of financial education workshops, as well as hired interns from the organization, some of whom have gone on to become full-time WSFS Associates, making the partnership a win-win for all involved.”

Tech Impact’s ITWorks program is just one of its initiatives making a difference through a free 16-week program where students learn about PC hardware, troubleshooting, IT networking, security, and much more to prepare for the Cisco IT Essentials and the CompTIA A+ certification. Students then have the opportunity to gain real-life, hands-on experience during a five-week internship at a local corporation or nonprofit.

“Prior to Tech Impact, I didn’t really have any professional experience with technology, but the organization was able to help set me up for success in just a few months’ time,” said Aundre Chambers, Associate Systems Engineer at WSFS and a 2015 ITWorks graduate. “Now I’m working to give back to the next generation of IT professionals by serving on the board of directors for Tech Impact as well as a mentor for its students.”

Tech ImpactBy providing innovative and affordable tech solutions including security, data, and strategic planning services exclusively to nonprofits around the country, Tech Impact supports the technology needs of more than 350 organizations annually so that they can more efficiently achieve their missions and serve their communities.

More than 10,000 nonprofit staff members are supported by Tech Impact’s help desk, and 1,500+ organizations have used Tech Impact’s tech experts to move their operations to cloud-based platforms, in turn increasing the access, security and efficiency of their work to better focus on their own services.

Alongside services, Tech Impact also publishes dozens of original research papers, consumer guides, and articles on tech-related solutions for nonprofits, and runs weekly live training and webinars covering the gamut of nonprofit technology focuses.
