Bake’n Bacon began with a dream.

Co-owner Justin Coleman’s late brother came to him in a dream, and he remembers smelling bacon. He wrote down “bacon, bacon, bacon,” and soon after Bake’n Bacon was born.

What began in 2019 with one food truck has quickly grown to a business with three food trucks –available for events and catering – and most recently, the opening of Philadelphia’s first and only bacon-inspired restaurant located at 1148 S. 11th Street in Philadelphia.

From bacon-infused sandwiches and sides to breakfast and waffle combos, desserts and even cocktails, Justin, co-owner Kelvin Alexander and the Bake’n Bacon team have truly made bacon the star of the show.

And there is still more to come… Bake’n Bacon’s upstairs will be opening soon and include a space for events like weddings and birthdays, hosting the Brunch-a-Bunch club, and an executive lounge featuring high-end drinks and small plates. Brunch service is also set to launch in early June and the Bake’n Bacon food truck will be appearing at The Roots Picnic that month as well.

“The upstairs venue space should be opening in a couple months, so we’re really excited for that,” said Justin. “We’ll have a wonderful space upstairs. We want to definitely thank WSFS, because we had so many banks tell us no, tell us that we’re growing too fast, and WSFS actually gave us the opportunity and chance to open Philadelphia’s first and only bacon-inspired restaurant.”

“WSFS Bank prides ourselves on being the small business bank in the region helping businesses in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey,” said Candice Caruso, SVP, Chief Consumer Lending Officer. “Bake’n Bacon is a great example of the growth we support and the communities we serve.”

WSFS Bank and FOX 29 recently visited Bake’n Bacon for Small Business Month in May to learn about their journey. Check out Bake’n Bacon’s Good Day Philadelphia segment!
